Mt. Juliet High School had two more seniors sign on the dotted line Friday, as Tori Barrett and Brittney Graves signed softball scholarships.
“This is going to be a year they talk about for years to come,” said Principal Mel Brown about the large number of athletic scholarships signed this year.
Barrett signed with Galveston College in Galveston, Texas. How she got there is a case of it being a small world. The coach in Galveston attended White House High School, and Barrett had a friend that attended there. The Galveston coach came here to watch her and Barrett went there to visit. The rest is history.
There is also a little added incentive for Barrett to play in Galveston.
“There is the school, then there’s a road, and then there’s the beach,” said Barrett explaining the geography of the school. She also really liked the coaching staff there. Graves signed with Lindsey Wilson.
“I like the atmosphere,” said Graves. “It’s really small. I thought I wanted to go to a big school, but I really like it.” Both were excited for the upcoming season which kicks off in a few weeks. “It should be really good,” said Graves. “I’m really excited for it.”
