City of Mt. Juliet makes hours more user friendly

The City of Mt. Juliet has changed its hours so it is more user friendly for citizens.

Interim City Manager Kenny Martin initiated the change because some departments had different hours than others.

“It’s a way to continue to improve our services to the citizens,” said Martin.

Martin said that some departments would close at 4 p.m. or 4:30 p.m., and others would shut down completely for lunch. Martin said he had the departments stagger their lunch breaks so they would stay open, and to push back all closing hours to 5 p.m.

Martin said that he had heard complaints from citizens about the limited hours. City Hall’s hours have always been 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., so he said he saw where it would be confusing to see that other departments didn’t keep those hours.

Martin said the new hours are just one of the ways the city is trying to improve its services. He has initiated some new street lights to lighten dark intersections, and even up at the I-40 exit. He has also started developing a park area in the city center at the corner of N. Mt. Juliet Rd. and Division St. to help beautify the city.

Martin said that if a citizen has an idea on how they can improve the city, call 754-2552.
