Senior Center to hold Pig-Stravaganza

The Mt. Juliet Senior Activity Center will hold a truly unique and fun event on Friday, Aug. 10, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Center located at 2034 North Mt. Juliet Road. 

The event entitled, “Pig-Stravaganza” is sponsored by  “Deal Piggles” and Houston’s Meat & Produce. 

The evening will include a giant Piggy Raffle and unique games of chance. 

Similar to a silent auction, items donated by the community are displayed. 

Participants will place their tickets in a jar for the item they hope to win. 

At the end of the evening, winning tickets are pulled. 

Some of the items donated so far include; Jewelry, restaurant and gift certificates, handmade items, art, spa treatments, home décor, food baskets, entertainment packages and lots more. 

The meal sponsored and catered by Houston’s Meat & Produce includes a BBQ pork sandwich on bun, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans and cornbread and their special Sweet Tea. 

Dessert will also be served. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Band, “Fast Forward”.  There is sure to be dancing as well. 

The highlight of the evening will be the “pig-calling contest.” 

Celebrity Judges for the contest include: Judge John Gwin, Mayor Ed Hagerty and others to be named upon confirmation. 

Winner of the Pig Calling Contest will win a beautiful cement pig named “Penelope.”

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Price includes dinner and five free raffle tickets. 

Additional Raffle tickets may be purchased at the event for $1 each. 

Don’t miss Kevin Pigg’s floating pig game of chance to win additional prizes. 

Door prizes will be called throughout the evening.  It’s not required but, you might want to wear pink.

The mission of the Mt. Juliet Senior Activity Center is to provide a place for older adults to gather for social, educational and recreational activities and to alleviate isolation and loneliness among the elderly. 

Proceeds from this event support the center and its important mission.
