MJ Breakfast Rotary holds largest tourney in club’s history

The Mt. Juliet Breakfast Rotary Club 2012 Baseball Tournament was held June 1-3, with 94 teams from four different states participating.

It was the largest in the club’s history, with proceeds from the event reaching $36,000. The club immediately gave away $18,000, $10,000 of which went to the Mt. Juliet Little League Park.

The remainder is distributed to the following organizations that helped work the concessions: Mt. Juliet Noon Rotary Club, Carrick Glen Seniors, Victory Baptish Church Youth, The Girl Scouts, St. Stephen Boy Scouts and Cumberland Presbyterian Boy Scouts.

Money also went to the Mt. Juliet Middle School, Mt. Juliet Christian Academy and Friendship Christian for allowing the club to use the field for the tournament.

Ricky Rodriguez, Director of Wilson Co. Convention & Visitors Bureau said the event was a boost for the Mt Juliet economy, bringing an estimated 1,100 to 1500 people to the city for a three day weekend. He estimated the expenditures at local hotels, restaurants and other shopping venues to be approximately $220,000, without using any multipliers.
