Benefit Yard & Bake Sale for Bishop & Warrick Mikaelian is Friday, Sept. 21 and Saturday, Sept. 22, 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. both days.
It is being held at Cloyd’s Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 595 West Division Street. In March of 2009, Bishop was diagnosed with a 2 centimeter tumor on her brain stem.
This is the part of the brain that controls all of your vital organs. After enduring nine hours of brain surgery, it was determined that the tumor was “inoperable” and only a biopsy could be performed. Bishop has Ganglioglioma: a rare cancerous tumor arising from ganglia-type cells, which are groups of nerve cells. Due to its location, it is extremely dangerous. In spite of everything this little girl has had to endure she keeps her ability to “smile” through it all.
Warrick was diagnosed in July of 2009 with Autism & ADHD, just four months after Bishop was diagnosed with her brain tumor. In June of 2011, he tested positive for Grand Mal seizures. Warrick faces many challenges, but overall, is a happy loving boy.
On a positive note to Autism, he does not understand Bishop’s condition. All he knows is that his sister “has a boo-boo”. When Bishop is in the hospital, we have struggled to find people to watch him after school, but have been blessed by so many local friends to take him during this time of need. Warrick has gotten use to the “pack your bags and go” routine.
If you would like to donate items for the sale you may drop them off at the church on Thursday, Sept. 20, between 4 and 7 p.m. or on Friday morning around 7:30 a.m. Or you may contact Lisa Patterson, (615)210-9870, to arrange to drop off.
If any of you would like to make a cake, pie, brownies, cookies, etc for the bake sale we would greatly appreciate it. Just please no refrigerated items as we will not have a place to store them. We could also use some water and sodas to sell as well, if you’d like to donate that.
The proceeds from this sale will go towards medical expenses for both Bishop and Warrick. Please come out and support this wonderful family.
