Stoney Crouch, a senior at Mt. Juliet High School, earned his way on to the inaugural Tennessee Junior Cup this past weekend held at the Vanderbilt Legends Golf Course. The top 16 boys in the state, based on 2012 year long season play, made the list. It was the East Team vs. West Team with the dividing line being Interstate 65.
PGA Pro Brandt Snedeker was the captain for the West Team and PGA Pro Scott Stallings was the captain for the East Team. Each coached their team in high competitive fashion and treated the boys to a professional golf experience. All the boys were able to keep their team apparel and golf bags courtesy of Snedeker and Stallings.Crouch and his partner lost their foul ball match Saturday, but he came up with a win in the individual match play Sunday. However, it wasn’t enough to catch the West, who was the first to get to the 12 points needed to win.
The Tennessee Golf Association hosted the event and will be the start of a Tennessee Junior Golf tradition with the tournament moving to its permanent home, The Grove Golf Course in College Grove.
For Mt. Juliet High School this season, Crouch won the District 9-AAA Tournament and was second in regions, which led to a State Tournament appearance.
