Max Lankes

Max Lankes, 76, Mt. Juliet, died Tuesday, Oct. 30. 

Max was a member of Maple Hill Church of Christ. He spent 20 years in the U.S. Army, including two tours in Vietnam, as a Ranger, Combat Infantry and Master Jumper and retired with the rank of Major. He was awarded 3 Bronze Stars, one with Valor. After retirement from the military, he obtained an agency with Nationwide Insurance Company where he retired after 22 years. He was a member and past president of the Mt. Juliet Breakfast Rotary Club, past president of the Mt. Juliet Booster’s Club and a member of the Tyler Cates American Legion Post No. 281. Max was the son of the late, Max Lankes and Maria Lankes Mulhern. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Corley Lankes and his son, Max Thomas Lankes.

He is survived by: children, Tim (Julia) Lankes, Tana (John) White and Todd (Tammy) Lankes; brother, Al (Anna) Lankes; grandchildren, Chelsea, Tazz, Tabitha, Spencer, Justin and Colton; Great-grandchildren, Cooper and Hayden; companion, Charlene Carter

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Nov. 3, at Victory Baptist Church, 777 Tate Lane, Mt. Juliet, TN with Russ Corley officiating. Interment with full military honors followed at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will Tazz White, Justin Lankes, Colton Lankes, Spencer Thompson, Bob Lankes, Jim Hunter, Andy Bond, Dr. David Clariday and Hoover Sutherland. Honorary pallbearers will members of the Mt. Juliet Breakfast Rotary Club and Earl Beaty.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.

Visitation was Thursday and Friday at the funeral home and prior to services Saturday at the church.
