In addition to Providence Central, there were several other big issues approved by the planning commission Thursday.
A proposed land swap between Sellars Funeral Home and the City of Mt. Juliet was approved. The land swap will possibly move City Hall to the current Sellars Funeral Home site, and Sellars would move across the street to the empty lot along Industrial Dr. and N. Mt. Juliet Road. The move is still in the process and isn’t a done deal.
Also, the planning commission approved a site plan for the new Mt. Juliet Fire Hall located at Belinda Parkway and Athens Dr. The Fire Hall is expected to be finished by next spring.
Also approved was a Planned Unit Development and site plan for Glass Creek Village Apartments. The apartment complex will be in Paddocks, back by Academy Sports and Outdoors and Wal-Mart. The complex will be 100 percent brick, and will have many more amenities than the City suggests.
The planning commission approved a site plan and final plat in Providence West. Providence West, which is across from Providence Marketplace, will have Pier 1 Imports, Martin’s Barbecue, Batteries, Etc. and Radio Shack.
