The Mt. Juliet Lady Bears nailed 12 three-pointers en route to a 66-57 win over Lebanon Friday.

Lebanon was packing it in to take away posts Ronjanae DeGray and Sally McCabe, so the Lady Bears bombed away from the outside. Savannah Sanders hit five three-pointers, three of them on three straight times down the floor in the third quarter. Ashley Roby hit four, and Tyia Waller hit three.

The game was fairly tight in the first half. Mt. Juliet led 16-10 after one quarter, but built a nine point lead in the second. Lebanon edged a little closer, 33-27 at the half.

The difference ended up being the third quarter, as the Lady Bears outscored Lebanon 21-7. The Lady Devils were able to pull closer in the fourth, but the deficit was too big to overcome.

DeGray and Sanders led the Lady Bears with 15 points  apiece. Roby had 13 and Waller had 12. Julia Fox of Lebanon led all scorers with 16.

The win improved the Lady Bears to 5-2 on the season.

Mt. Juliet jumped out to a 19-7 lead, and held onto the double digit advantage at the half, 30-19.  Lebanon tried to apply more pressure in the second half with a full court zone press, which forced some turnovers. Going into the fourth, Mt. Juliet led 41-33, and the Blue Devils cut it to 48-46 in the fourth.

Needing a big shot, Nolan Chowbay came through with a three-pointer to extend it out to 51-46. After former Bear and current Blue Devil DaShawn McMurry hit two free throws, Chowbay came through again with another three, pushing it back out to six points.
