Sharon H. Force, 64, Nashville, died Wednesday, Dec. 19 at Vanderbilt Hospice.Force, originally from Louisville, Ky. was the daughter of the late Alfreda and Eugene Holland and a graduate of the University of Kentucky.
She is survived by: her children, Rachel Brook Force (Matt Unger), Yuri Fox (Carly) Force, Jessi Erin Force; granddaughter, Ester Fox Unger; former husband Stan Force; and mother-in-law Evelyn Jones Force; two sisters, Sandy (Bill)Dillon, Bobbie Holland Dobson; brother, Eugene Wayne (Sandy) Holland; 11 nieces and nephews, plus many students and friends.
Sharon’s teaching career began at the Mt. Juliet High School in 1973 teaching math. She also started the half-time dancers’ program. When the Mt. Juliet Middle School was built, she felt her math talent would best be served at the middle school level.
Sharon briefly left her teaching profession to devote her time to raising her three children. She then returned to the educational field at Metro’s Granberry Elementary on Aug. 26, 1992. There she started the recycling program beginning with kindergarten, moving on to serve the community.
She devoted her life to educating others on how to protect and conserve the environment. Sherry is well-known in the Metro area for her recycling work.
A memorial service was held at Unity of Nashville Church, 5125 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN 37220, Friday, Dec. 21 from 1 to 3 p.m.
