Sally McCabe had a triple-double Thursday, as Mt. Juliet downed Portland, 45-20.
McCabe had an impressive 18 points, 13 blocks and 10 rebounds in the win. Teammate Ronjanae DeGray added 21 points to the Lady Bear scoreboard. The post duo combined for 39 of the Lady Bears 45 points.
The boys cruised to a victory over the Panthers as well, 64-44.
Hunter Gilbert led the way with 23 points, nailing three, three-pointers. Nolan Chowbay added 11 and John Mark Bell finished with 10.
Mt. Juliet travels to Hendersonville Friday to take on the Commando teams.
Central splits with Lebanon
GLADEVILLE – (originally published in the Wilson Post) Lebanon’s girls withstood a late flurry by Wilson Central and came away with a 33-32 District 9AAA win Friday night. The Lady Wildcats misfired on three potential game-winning shots in the final moments, only to be awarded a one-and-one with 1.2 seconds left on the clock.
Sydney Comer front-rimmed her attempt and Lebanon’s Faith Rushing grabbed the rebound to secure the victory.
Trailing 19-14 at intermission, Lebanon outscored Wilson Central 14-5 in the third period. LHS improved to 12-10 overall / 7-3 in 9AAA while Wilson Central slipped to 9-10 / 5-5.
Devilette junior Madison Sloan led all scorers with 11 points and Julia Fox had 10. Abby Wright and Kelsey Yarbrough each had four.
Kendell Spray finished with nine points for the Lady Wildcats while Autumn Hopkins and Comer each had seven.
Lebanon will visit Station Camp Tuesday while Wilson Central plays at Gallatin.
Wilson Central outscored Lebanon 38-27 in the second half of Friday’s 57-44 home win over the Blue Devils.
Wildcat Jacob Williams led all scorers with 19 while Ben Palmer added 12. Lebanon was led by KeShawn Abston with 14 points.
WCHS improved to 17-6 overall and 7-3 in District 9AAA while LHS fell to 8-14 / 4-6. Central will play at gallatin Tuesday; Lebanon visits Station Camp.
MJCA sweeps King’s Academy
Mt. Juliet Christian Academy took care of business Friday against King’s Academy, winning both games.
In the girls game, the Lady Saints came away with a 45-26 win.
Lynzee Ethridge led the way with 14 points. Meredith Orr had 12 and Lauren Wankel ended with 10.
The boys came away with a 43-33 win. Trevor West led all scorers with 18 points.
