WWMS cheerleaders headed to Nationals

The State Champion West Wilson Middle School Wildcat Cheerleaders will be heading to Walt Disney World Feb. 6-11, to once again compete in the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship. 

The Wildcat squad will also compete in the School Cheerleading World’s Championship while in Orlando.  

The championships are held at the ESPN Wild World of Sports Complex and performances will be aired on ESPN in the Spring.  Last year’s squad won 3rd place at Nationals, and earned 4th place in the Worlds competition.

This season’s Wildcat squad, which is comprised of 22 girls,  was awarded 1st place at the TSSAA State High School Cheerleading Championship in November, earning them back-to-back State Championship titles. They also competed in the UCA Smoky Mountain Classic in December, winning 1st place in the large junior high division This highly skilled  and athletic group of girls, began training last March, to prepare for these competitions. They train 4-5 days each week, under the direction of Coach Amie Smeykal, assistant coaches, Makayla Bradshaw and Tammy Bradshaw, and gym coach, Micah Smith.
