Eat, Drink & Be Merry: Firehouse Subs

After several years of trying, Firehouse Subs has finally found its way to Mt. Juliet. 

“Mt. Juliet was our first choice,” said Brian Desmarais, who has lived in the community with his wife for 18 years. 

Desmarais had a couple of locations in Mt. Juliet that he was close on, but agreements didn’t work out, so he opened the store in Hermitage. He has now made it to his hometown. 

What makes Firehouse Subs different is that all their sandwiches come out hot. They steam the meat and cheese and toast the bun. 

“Nobody else does it that way,” said Desmarais. 

You can get one of their specialty subs like a Hook and Ladder or a Firehouse Meatball, or something simple like a Chicken Breast, Roast Beef, Pastrami, or Virginia Honey Ham.

Firehouse Subs also does a lot for charity, and has already made their mark in Mt. Juliet. Through their Public Safety Foundation, they have donated defibrillators to the Mt. Juliet Police Department and O2 sensors to WEMA. They plan to do more in the future. To donate to the Public Safety Foundation, you can buy the pickle buckets at the restaurant for $2 and all that money goes to the charity. 

Firehouse Subs was started in 1994 by Robin and Chris Sorenson, two firefighter brothers, in Jacksonville, Fla. Now there are over 500 locations across the United States. 

Firehouse Subs is located at 650 South Mt. Juliet Road, Suite 330. They can be reached (615)553-2671. Their hours are 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
