Mt. Juliet High School Choirs brought home 4 Superior Trophies from the Middle Tennessee Vocal Association Choral Festival. The festival was held at the First United Methodist Church of Murfreesboro, Feb. 26.
Sandy Elliott, MJHS Choir Director said “It was an amazing day! Not only were our kids outstanding in performance, but their behavior exemplified true ambassadors for Mt. Juliet High School.”
Superior is the highest score. The scores were as follows:
Mixed Choir – SOUL Choir = 10
Men’s Choir – MOVE = 10.562
Ladies Choir – LOVE = 11.14
Advanced Mixed Choir – Vocal Ensemble = 11.64
Elliott said the students went above and beyond meeting the state and national standards in performance.
“These students have worked on techniques, notes and rhythms for weeks. But, what made them so successful is that they truly understand the cultural and musical concepts of the songs and they were able to communicate this to the audience. I am so proud of them and their achievements!”
The four MJHS choirs qualified to compete at the State ACDA Choral Festival to be held in April at David Lipscomb University. The MJHS Vocal program Choirs have qualified to compete at the State level for the last 10 years consecutively. There are approximately 190 students in the choirs at MJHS and our choirs continually earn Superior ratings at Regional, State and National Festivals.
