Three Mt. Juliet High School students took the top three spots in the American Mathematics Contest at Cumberland University.
Eric Whitmire took the highest score on the AMC 12, which was for students grade 12 and below. Ryan Downs and Chase Buscherfeld tied for second place. All three were awarded $1,000 scholarships.
Cole Ellis, also a Mt. Juliet High School student, tied for third in the AMC 10, which is for students in grades 10 and below. Ellis won a $500 scholarship.
Each participant in the contest received a goody bag as well as a Certificate of Participation. Door prizes from the Cumberland University bookstore were also provided to several of the participants.
For this year’s contest, students from Ironwood Academy, Lebanon High School, Mt. Juliet High School, Sunset Middle School and Watertown High School participated in the event.
