The possibility of extending South Greenhill Road all the way to Old Lebanon Dirt Road was discussed at the Board of Commissioners meeting Monday.

The commission voted 5-0 to ask the City Manager to formulate a plan and budget for the project. The commission also added the request of adding a right turn lane heading west on Division, turning onto South Greenhill Road.

The commission also approved $70,350 to Gresham, Smith and Partners to provide professional services for preparation of an interchange access report and assistance with programming of projects on the Transportation Improvement Program. The measure is another step in getting the Central Pike Interchange on I-40 on the future projects of TDOT.

In other business, the commission approved renaming Providence West Boulevard to Providence Parkway and a study of the traffic signals on North Mt. Juliet Road. The study would be completely reimbursed by TDOT.
