Kenny Martin spoke to Eastern Middle TN Association of Realtors Thursday, and gave a hint at what could be coming in the future to Mt. Juliet.
Some businesses are for sure coming and are opening soon. Those include Martin’s BBQ, Taziki’s Mediterranean Restaurant, and Mt. Juliet’s first liquor store, Mt. Juliet Wine & Spirits.

CEVA Logistics will be bringing 1,000 jobs to the area when they open their new building.
People wanting a freestanding Starbucks in the community may not have to wait too much longer.
“There is a lease being worked out as we speak,” said Martin.
He said he couldn’t comment on the exact location, but it will be in the Providence area.
A big topic lately has been an organic grocery store. A Facebook page dedicated to bringing Trader Joe’s to Mt. Juliet has become popular in recent weeks.
“We will get an organic grocer in Mt. Juliet even if I have to open one myself,” joked Martin.
Martin said it will happen, he just doesn’t know when. Whether it is Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Sprouts or Earthfare, he doesn’t know.
Also possible is getting either a Costco or Sam’s Club. Both have explored the area, but never pulled the trigger. Martin said that he had heard rumblings that they may have bought land in the area and not told anyone. He said that is a possibility, but he had no verification on that.
Martin said three furniture stores are also coming to Mt. Juliet possibly. He wouldn’t mention them by name, but told the audience that they had heard of every one.
Once some issues are worked out at the Beckwith exit, people could see a rapid growth. Martin said that area could draw the likes of Macy’s, Nordstrom or Bloomingdales.
Martin said the planned YMCA on Lebanon Road will now be built in phases instead of all at once. No word on when the first phase will begin.
The City is currently upgrading the sewer under I-40 because they would not be able to handle the growth without it. He said it was something that needed to be done a few years ago, but it will allow the expansion of Providence Central, which would bring with it a bunch of Class A office buildings and an I-40 exit at Central Pike. Martin said several buildings in the Providence Central development are over 200,000 square feet, and the largest office building now in Mt. Juliet is 75,000 square feet.
Martin said the downtown area of Mt. Juliet will continue to see rapid change. City Hall will eventually move to Sellars Funeral Home, and the Funeral Home is going to be moving across the street in a brand new building on what is now a vacant lot. He said that a new dialysis clinic will also be open behind the building that holds Mirko Pasta, Jet’s Pizza and Bar-B-Cutie.
The old SpecPrint building across from Whitt’s Barbecue is planned to be remodeled and will be a retail area once finished.
