New high end, lake front condominiums are coming to Saundersville Road on Old Hickory Lake.
The Condominiums at Cedar Creek Point will be located at 9000 Saundersville Road, next to Cedar Creek Marina. They will be four floors and have units ranging from 821 square feet to 2,260 square feet. There will be 30 units in total. There will also be a pool and outdoor use areas, as well as a boat dock.
The Mt. Juliet Planning Commission approved an annexation into the city, a land use plan amendment and a preliminary master development plan for the project in Thursday’s meeting.
Some commissioners had concerns with the project, especially the location.
“In my opinion, this is totally out of place,” said Commissioner Phil Smartt.
Most of the area is single family dwellings, so a multi-family dwelling would change the area, especially the traffic, which is held by a small stretch of Saundersville Road.
Many residents of Hickory Hills and Willoughby Station were also concerned about a concept plan for 72 new single-family lots, and an extra through road on Sydney Terrace in Willoughby Station. Many of the residents thought the road is too narrow, and there are no sidewalks to handle the traffic that cuts through from Lebanon Road to South Greenhill Road. There is already some existing drainage issues that residents fear will get worse with the new lots. Many said they had no idea that there was going to be an extra phase built.
The original plan for Phase 4 of Hickory Hills in 1987 was to have 158 single family lots. The concept plan was approved, but if the plans aren’t approved in the future, the developer could go back to building the 158 lots originally planned.
The planning commission also approved a Mattress Firm site plan. It will be located at 85 North Mt. Juliet Road, which is the first lot off the interstate when traveling north on North Mt. Juliet Road.
