It’s been a few years since Mt. Juliet has lost two consecutive games, but Blackman got the best of the Bears Friday, 42-14.
2009 was the last time the Bears lost two consecutive games when they lost to Beech to end the season, and Oakland in the first round of the playoffs.
Courtland Douglas had a big night on the ground with 146 yards on 18 carries, but the Bears couldn’t get anything going in the first half against the Blaze’s stingy defense. Mt. Juliet was held without a first down in the first half for the second week in a row. Blackman was able to build a 35-0 lead by the half.
Mt. Juliet was able to get on the board in the fourth when Jordan Hooper ran it in from three yards out.
In the final minute, freshman Trey Pruitt came in at quarterback and found Ahmad Bradley on a 40-yard bomb for another score.
Mt. Juliet is at home again next week when they host rival Wilson Central. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
