A reckless driver sent the Mt. Juliet Police Department on a chase on put a local school on lockdown Wednesday.
According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department, around 11 a.m., Shawn Neal, 21, Lebanon was driving recklessly on Belinda Parkway when a MJPD officer attempted to pull him over. He continued to drive reckless before eventually lost control, hit a fire hydrant and flipped the car near Belinda Parkway and Alsdale Drive. He exited the vehicle and ran from police.
Rutland Elementary School was placed on a soft lockdown. Due to tips from the public, Neal was located under the deck of a house at the 1700 block of Pratston Court around 1 p.m. He was transported to a local hospital due to injuries sustained during the crash.
Neal also had illegal drugs, and was arrested on several counts including: two counts of Evading; three counts of Possession of a Schedule II, IV, and VI drug for resale; one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; one count of Reckless Endangerment; one count of Driving on a Revoked Driver’s License.
