The open enrollment period for Wilson County students begins Feb. 1.
Starting that day, parents wishing to move their child to one of the open schools can submit an application up until March 31.
The schools with openings are Rutland Elementary, Watertown Elementary, West Elementary, Watertown Middle, West Wilson Middle, Lebanon High School, Watertown High School and Wilson Central High School.
As long as there are spaces available, the transfer will be approved. If there are more requests than spaces available, priority will be given to students who: have parents that are employees of Wilson County Schools; students whose siblings are already enrolled at the school, students requesting a specific course offering not available at their base school. The rest will be approved by lottery. Transportation will be the responsibility of the parent or guardian.
All approved transfers are effective until the student completes the exit grade at that particular school. Once the student exits that school, they will go to the one they are zoned for, unless another application is placed and the school has an opening.
Student transfer applications are available at the district office or on the website at www.wcschools.com.
