For the next few months, we will be highlighting all the Teachers of the Year in the Mt. Juliet area. Schools recently voted on their Teacher of the Year, and that Teacher will go to the banquet in April where a Wilson County Teacher of the Year will be named. The event is sponsored by Cedar Stone Bank and Wilson County Motors.
This week, we meet Mt. Juliet Elementary’s Mandy Lee.
Lee has been a teacher at MJE for nine years, which is all of her years in teaching.
“It’s very humbling,” said Lee about being selected Teacher of the Year. “I did not expect it at all. It’s such an honor.”
Lee said teaching is a passion for her. She loves to teach reading and get kids excited about learning.
“I like seeing that lightbulb go off,” said Lee.
Lee says that the honor means so much more because of all the great teachers at MJE.
“Every teacher in the building cares about their students. They go the extra mile,” said Lee.
When asked if Lee was nervous about the banquet coming up in April.
“Oh, goodness, yes.”
