Both Mt. Juliet basketball teams won their way into the District 9-AAA finals.
The boys started the tournament Friday with a 53-47 win over the home team Beech. Reagan Johnson led the way with 16 points. Daniel Schroder had 14 and Nolan Chowbay had 10.
On Saturday, the Bears avenged two regular season losses to rival Wilson Central with a 65-52 win in the semifinals. John Mark Bell was the leading scorer in that game with 16 points. Chowbay finished with 15. Daniel Schroder and James Womack ended the game with 12 points apiece. Ben Palmer led Wilson Central with 18 points.
Mt. Juliet played Station Camp in the finals Tuesday night. The game concluded after press time.
The Mt. Juliet girls stayed undefeated against district teams with wins over Portland and Lebanon.
The Lady Bears beat Portland 62-25 on Thursday. Sally McCabe led all scorers with 20. Raeyana DeGray poured in 16.
The Lady Bears also dismantled Lebanon on Saturday, 56-26. DeGray led all scorers with 21. McCabe had 12.
Mt. Juliet played Beech Tuesday for the District 9-AAA crown.
The Wilson Central boys started the tournament with a 63-42 win over Portland.
The Wildcats beat Gallatin in the third place game Monday, 54-42. Jacob Williams finished the game with 29 points.
The Wilson Central girls’ season ended Thursday to Lebanon in a 43-39 loss.
Both Mt. Juliet teams and the Wilson Central boys advanced to the Region 5 tournament.
