Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central hockey wins Henry Hine Cup

The Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central hockey team took the divisional championship in the Henry Hine Cup this weekend. 

This is the first championship win since 2007 when Mt. Juliet hockey team took the GNASH cup.  Mt. Juliet Bears are the only school to claim a championship win in the State Predators Cup (2003), the State GNASH Cup (2007) and the Divisional Henry Hine Cup (2014). 

On Wednesday, Feb. 26, MJ-WC beat the Tennessee Outlaws, 7-5.   Scoring for Mt. Juliet in the first period were Kieran Ogle, Dillon Massia with an assist from Tanner Walsh and Kieran Ogle with an assist from Sam Penland.  

In the second, Sam Penland scores two with assists from Kieran Ogle and Austin Work and Jack Tirey gets two assisted by Kieran Ogle  and Tyler Decker.  

After the win Wednesday night, Mt. Juliet faced Station Camp Friday, Feb. 28 for a huge win and a chance at the Henry Hine Cup.  The final score was 5-1. Scoring for Mt. Juliet were Chase Perkins assisted by Tyler Decker, Dillon Massia assisted by Chase Perkins and Cade Crosslin with an assist by Perkins in the first period.  Scoring one in the second was Kieran Ogle assisted by Sam Penland and then Vince Haller with an assist by Kieran Ogle scores last point in the third.

The Henry Hine Cup Championship game was held Saturday, March 1 at Bridgestone Arena.  It was MJ-WC against Franklin Road Academy.  With no scoring in the first two periods, FRA puts the first point on the board early in the third. Mt. Juliet quickly answers with a goal by Cade Crosslin assisted by Sam Penland and Kieran Ogle.  Mt. Juliet breaks the tie with a  second goal by Dillon Massia assisted by Vince Haller for the win.
