The Board of Commissioners approved three items for improvements at Charlie Daniels Park Monday.

The first was to create pickleball courts, which would be near the tennis courts and skate park. Pickleball is a racket sport which is similar to tennis, badminton and ping pong. It uses wooden paddles, and a ball similar to a wiffle ball.

The next item was to pave the parking lot for the Farmers Market to create a good first impression when people come into the park.

The third item was to extend the current walking trail that runs throughout the park up through the new property where the Police Department will be located. The entire path will be paved not to exceed $44,000.

All three items will be bid out as a package in hopes of getting a better price.

The board also approved two seasonal employees for Ava’s Splash Pad. The pay would be $10 an hour, and the person would supervise people coming onto the splash pad, to make sure they have the right attire, and any other items that might disturb the Ph of the water, as well as safety issues.
