Mt. Juliet softball picked up six wins last week, winning three district games, then three more at a tournament in Louisville, Ky.
On Tuesday, Mt. Juliet knocked off Hendersonville, 12-2. Freshman Riley Walker led the way with a 2-for-3 day and a home run. She had two RBIs. Emily Bombard, Savanna Oliver and Savannah Sanders all also had two RBIs. Sanders got the win on the mound, striking out eight.
Wednesday, Mt. Juliet broke a 3-3 tie in the fifth and went on to beat Station Camp 7-3.
Walker had two RBIs again. Kelsie Craighead, Bombard, Shelby Woodard and Oliver all had RBIs as well. Sanders got the win again, striking out 10.
Thursday, the Lady Bears had no trouble with Wilson County rival Lebanon in a 10-2 win. Craighead and Woodard both had home runs in the contest. Craighead was 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Walker drove in three runs as well on a 2-for-3 day. Woodard drove in two, and Oliver and Kristin Jackson each had one RBI. Sanders was victorious again on the mound with 13 strikeouts.
Things kept rolling into Friday as Mt. Juliet traveled to Louisville, Ky. for the Ballard High Super Prep Tournament. Mt. Juliet picked up two wins in the first day. The first was over Glen Este High School (Ohio), 9-5.
Hanna Sheppard was 1-for-2 with three RBIs. Craighead had two RBIs, and Walker, Woodard and Oliver each had one RBI. Woodard got the win on the mound.
The second win of the day came against Matthews (OhIo), 4-1. Woodard had a home run, and also picked up the win on the mound. Craighead, Walker and Sheppard all added RBIs.
The Lady Bears closed out the tournament Saturday with a win over Westerville (Ohio), 1-0. The only run came on a wild pitch, which scored Craighead. Sanders threw a one-hitter and struck out 12.
The Bears will be having senior night Thursday as they host Gallatin. The game starts at 5 p.m.
MJ baseball adds 2 wins
Mt. Juliet picked up a district and non-distirct win last week.
The Bears knocked off Station Camp 5-1, and followed that up with an 8-6 win over Oakland.
The Bears played Wilson Central Tuesday night after press time, then travel to Central for a Wednesday game, 7 p.m.
MJ soccer knocks off
Mt. Juliet soccer beat Summit 7-1 Thursday.
Cameron Woodfin had another hat trick and added an assist. Tanner Dabell had two goals. Austin Coleman had a goal and an assist and freshman Chase Earles had his first goal. David Siever and Colbe Earles had two assists and Zack McGhee added an assist. Dylan Cole got his first varsity start in goal and got the win with seven saves.
Mt. Juliet played Station Camp after press time Tuesday, and will travel to Gallatin Thursday for a 7 p.m. game.
