Both Wilson Central softball and baseball teams captured the 9-AAA District titles with wins over Beech last week.
Central knocked off Beech 6-1 in the softball final.
Tournament MVP Hannah Bodenhorn pitched a 1-hitter Thursday night while striking out nine batters.
She got all the run support she needed in the first inning when Morgan Powell hit a 2-run home run. Powell then started the scoring again in the third inning when she singled, moved to seconnd on a walk by Katie Eakes and scored on a single by Brooke Pfefferle. Claire Smith followed with an RBI single of her own, increasing the lead to 4-1. Pfefferle led off the sixth inning with a single and moved to second on a single by Karlie Odum and scored on an infield single by Kayla Varner. Keily Preston, running for Odum, also scored on Varner’s hit as the ball was thrown into the Wildcat dugout.

The Wilson Central softball team kept its season alive Monday night with an 8-2 win over Clarksville Northeast in regional play. Central scored in the first inning after a walk to Powell with two outs was followed by a double by Katie Eakes to score Powell from first base.
Central scored again in the second inning when Smith hit a triple and advanced home on an overthrow.
The Lady Wildcats were back at it again in the third inning, scoring four more runs. Brittany Wiseman led off the inning with a walk. Courtesy runner Preston was bunted over to second by Powell before Eakes dropped a bunt down for a base hit. Eakes then stole second giving Central runners on second and third, before Kendall Eden singled up the middle to score Powell. Eden stole second before Pfefferle executed a squeeze scoring Eakes from third and Eden from second when the third baseman threw the ball into right field, bringing Pfefferle all the way to third base.
Wilson Central scored two more runs in the fifth inning with back-to-back singles by Powell and Eakes, before Eden sacrificed them over with a bunt. Pfefferle once again came up with a big hit, scoring both Powell and pinch runner Kendal Tomlin.
Bodenhorn pitched all seven innings, giving up six hits, two runs, one earned while striking out nine. Central will host Clarksville High School Wednesday night at 6 p.m. for the Region Championship.

The Central baseball team got a grand slam and a solid pitching performance on the mound from Kyle Hubbuch in a 12-3 victory over Beech for the district title.
Monday, the Wildcats season came to an end on a 2-1 loss to Rossview.
