The Board of Commissioners approved an agreement between the Fire Department of Mt. Juliet and WEMA Monday.
The agreement has been on the floor a few times before, but several changes were demanded. There are still changes to be made, but Vice Mayor James Maness said it was best to get the process rolling so that the agreement can be finalized.
“This is the time to get something done,” said Maness. “The window we have to get this thing resolved is closing on us.”
Assistant Chief Jamie Luffman said he needed to meet with county officials, and the changes would be brought back to the board on second reading.
In other business, the board accepted $11,100 from Modern Woodmen of America for development of the Jones Family Park near the intersection of N. Mt. Juliet Road and Old Lebanon Dirt Road. A sand volleyball court is there now.
Also, the board approved to apply and pay a matching portion of a grant that would go to the construction of a Belinda Parkway pederstrian connector from the new Chuck E. Cheese to Mundy Park, and a sidwalk connector from Stone Hollow to Mt. Juliet High School.
