Hoppe signs with Cumberland

Versatile Curt Hoppe, Co–MVP of District 9-AAA, signed scholarship papers Wednesday, June 18 with 2014 NAIA National Champion Cumberland University.

A third baseman / pitcher for Mt. Juliet, Hoppe hit .410 as a senior with 49 RBI and five homers while splitting time between third base and the mound.    

As a pitcher, he went 7-1 with a 1.75 ERA. He struck out 68 batters in 55 innings of work as the Golden Bears finished the 2014 season 25-8-2 overall.

“Curt is a big, strong kid, a guy who could help us in a couple of different areas,” said Cumberland head coach Woody Hunt. 

The son of Craig and Rachel Hoppe, he is playing summer baseball with the Post 281 Tennessee Riverdogs, based in Mt. Juliet.
