This fall will be the first season for the new Mt. Juliet Bears High School Mountain Bike Team. The Team will be a part of the Tennessee High School Cycling League, a NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) League.
They will be having a summer kick off meeting Thursday, July 10 at 7 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church’s family life center, located at the intersection of N. Mt. Juliet Road and Oak Hall Drive. The meeting will include an introduction to the Team and the Tennessee NICA Series.
There will be four races this year: Race 1, Aug. 10 at AEDC, Tullahoma; Race 2, Sept. 21 at Lock 4 Park, Gallatin; Race 3, Oct. 12 at Herb Parsons Lake, east of Memphis; Race 4, Nov. 2 at St. Andrews School, Sewanee.
2013 was the first year for the Tennessee High School Cycling League. Four Wilson County high school students competed under a “comprehensive” type team, which is a temporary type. This year they are registering as a Mt. Juliet High School team. Three of last year’s riders will be returning and are looking forward to riding under the Bears’ name.
