Mt. Juliet’s Avenue Animal Hospital has joined an elite group of veterinary practices by being awarded AAHA Standards of Accreditation. Nicole Harris, DVM, hospital owner/practitioner, said “This is an honor our staff has worked hard to achieve. We pride ourselves on personal, professional, compassionate care and AAHA accreditation validates our commitment to animals and their owners.”
Established in 1933, The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) is an international association well known among veterinarians and pet owners for its high standards for pet health care. It is the only organization that accredits animal hospitals throughout the U.S. and Canada. Avenue Animal Hospital was evaluated on almost 900 rigorous standards of excellence, covering quality of care, diagnostic and pharmacy, management, medical records, and facility. The standards require hospitals to provide diagnostic services (x-ray and laboratory). The standards focus on the quality of care in the areas of anesthesia, contagious diseases, dentistry, pain management, patient care, surgery and emergency care.
Dr. Nicole Harris has a special interest in ultrasound imaging. Avenue Animal Hospital is the only veterinarian facility in Wilson County with the capability of performing in-house ultrasound and echocardiogram exams for quick and accurate diagnosis. Dr. Harris also believes strongly in promoting dental health, focusing on the most current techniques and preventative measures. Dental health is so much more than just cleaning teeth to freshen breath. New techniques such as root planing allow teeth to be saved from extraction and dental blocks for extractions improve the comfort level of the animal.
The hospital also offers pet owners an online program to track their pet’s medical records, appointments and personal history.
Mt. Juliet/West Wilson County Chamber of Commerce has awarded the Community Enhancement of the Month Award to Avenue Animal Hospital for beautification and state-of-the-art renovation of the 5,000 square foot facility at 1725 N. Mt. Juliet Road.
