The employees of Mt. Juliet Health Care Center were recognized on Nursing Home Caregiver Day, Friday, Nov. 22. The 2013 theme “The Extra Mile” recognizes caregivers who go above and beyond to meet the physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual needs of their residents.

More than 37,000 men and women provide care for more than 30,000 elderly and disabled patients in Tennessee’s nursing homes, from nurses providing medical care to kitchen managers preparing nutritious meals and everyone in between, the nursing home staff works together to ensure that each and every patient is receiving the highest quality of care possible. In addition to medical care, many facilities offer physical, occupational and speech therapy along with special programs for Alzheimer’s patients.

“Nursing home employees work hard to provide round-the-clock care to residents,” said Ronald Knox, administrator at Mt. Juliet Health Care Center. “Many caregivers go the extra mile to make sure their patients receive quality care, and I think it’s important to recognize their dedication.”

Mt. Juliet Health Care Center is a member of the Tennessee Health Care Association, a non-profit organization whose members include long-term care facilities located throughout the state. To learn more about the many worthwhile things nursing homes do, visit the association’s website, www.thca.org.
