Mt. Juliet will have a independently owned full service bakery on the south end of town when Kelli Kakes Bake Shop opens Monday.

The Kelli in Kelli Kakes is Kelli Beal, an EMT who decided to share her love of baking with the community.

Kelli Kakes Bake Shop covers all kinds of items, focusing mainly on everyone’s favorite, the sweets.

You can get cakes, wedding cakes, cookies and pies.

You can even by cake by the slice. There will be a cake of the week each week which she will announce on social media, and you can come in to purchase any of those all week long. There will also be a pie of the week as well. Beal plans to rotate the flavors, and add many as time goes on.

There is also a cooler there so you can purchase premade cakes and pies.

Kelli Kakes Bake Shop will also have several different types of cupcakes, and also mini cupcakes for kids. Beal, who has a child, said parents will often go to a cupcake place and the child will only eat two or three bites and be done. This will give a cheaper alternative to make sure the kiddos finish it, and the parents get their money’s worth.

Beal is going to try whenever possible to use produce from local farms.

“There will be nothing in here that comes out of a box or can,” said Beal.

That means that Beal will have a summer and winter menu based on what produce is in season.

There will also be plenty of options of drinks and sodas to wash your cake or cupcake down.

There will be a week long Grand Opening celebration starting June 17, and if you say you read this article or saw the advertisement, you will get a free cookie. There are also fliers circulating around the community that will get you a free cookie as well.

Kelli Kakes Bake Shop is located in Paddocks shopping center between the Lowes and Walmart. They are still waiting on their sign, so look closely for the smaller sign on the window.

They will be open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can reach them at (615)758-5951.

Paint Along, A unique art studio offering instructor-guided painting workshops, is opening a new location in the Mt. Juliet area under the direction of Linda Rhea.
Paint Along provides a variety or artistic experiences including the basic painting workshop, BYOB workshops, private parties, corporate events and kid’s club classes at the studio or at a location of your choice. Experienced and friendly instructors guide painters step-by-step through the process. All materials necessary to create a display-worthy work of art are provided in every session. Paint Along also offers custom painting creation service for private celebrations and corporate events.
Our instructors help you unleash your creative spirit in a fun, supportive environment. Workshop participants leave with a real sense of accomplishment, not to mention a new work of art to enjoy at home, or gift a friend.
Rhea, who brings over twenty years of experience in the visual arts, said Paint Along’s success is based on giving clients individual instruction and interaction from staff in an intimate, boutique-sized setting. This sets it apart from other workshops, she explained.
Since it’s first studio in Nashville in 2008, Paint Along has expanded to New York City. As of January 2013, the company has franchised the business model that is now available in many states throughout the US.
We now bring the same unique artistic experience to Mt. Juliet. Paint Along plans to open several other studios in the coming months.
The grand opening of the new studio located at 3586 N. Mt. Juliet Road is scheduled for July 1st. We will be offering a pre-grand opening special during the month of June. For several months now, Midtown Health Care has been taking care of Mt. Juliet when they are sick.

Chad James, FNP-C, has been practicing family care for 10 years, all in Mt. Juliet.

Originally from Mississippi, James went to Vanderbilt University and did his last rotation in Mt. Juliet. After that, he was hired on at the same clinic. But he wanted to open his own clinic, and there was no question where he wanted to open.

“We all have kids that go to school in Mt. Juliet, so we have a vested interest in the community,” said James of his staff.

James said his original plan was to go back to Mississippi when he graduated college, but fell in love with middle Tennessee.  Luckily, he got hired in Mt. Juliet and hasn’t left.

James said his office is efficient getting people in and out, while making sure they aren’t rushed.

“That’s not something I want to do, rush people in and out,” said James.

They schedule patients, but also allow walk-ins.

They practice: Family medicine, Work comp, DOT physicals, Sports physicals, Drug screens, Minor surgical procedures (sutures, toenail excision, etc), On site labs, other general medicine, Pediatric care for 1 year and up.

You can also just come in for a B12 shot for just $20. No office visit needed. In and out with no wait. Midtown is also going to donate $5 to a charity or to someone of need for each shot we give every month. So you can feel better with the B12 and also feel good about helping someone in need.

Midtown Health Care also uses Phreesia, a tablet based sign in system that helps keep track of your visits. You sign in with it, and it will have all your information, and will help you avoid getting procedures or test you might not need.

Midtown Health Care is located 1097 Weston Dr., Suite 3 in Mt. Juliet. They can be reached at (615)288-3267 or you can find them on the web at
