The website Nerdwallet.com has named Mt. Juliet as the third best place to buy a home in Tennessee.
The list was based on whether there are homes available, how affordable they are, and whether the area is growing, and the population change from 2010 to 2012.
Arlington outside of Memphis was No. 1 followed by Spring Hill.
“Like many other communities in our top 10, Mt. Juliet, a suburb of Nashville, is experiencing significant growth in population and business,” the report reads.
Nerd Wallet touts many factors including the population growth from 2010 to 2012. Mt. Juliet saw a 12 percent increase in that time. It also says that Mt. Juliet has easy access to three major interstates and State Route 840, which allows easy trips to major universities. Being between two lakes, Mt. Juliet offers great outdoor activities, a community center, two city parks and sports complex.
Homeownership rate in Mt. Juliet is 82 percent, and monthly homeowner costs take up 24.1 percent of the median household income. Median home value is $196,200.
Nerd Wallet also spoke about Providence Marketplace, and the easy access to shopping and restaurants for residents in the area.
Middle Valley and Seymour rounded out the top five on the list.
