The Planning Commission moved forward with a new Preschool and a new neighborhood off Beckwith Road in their monthly meeting Thursday.

The Primrose School will be locating next to the Providence Animal Clinic on Belinda Parkway. Primrose Schools currently have locations in Franklin, Brentwood and Hendersonville. They are an accredited private preschool, that uses a Balanced Learning philosophy that uses ideas from educational  experts like Montessori, Gesell, Piaget and Vygotsky.

The planning commission approved a site plan unanimously.

Beckwith Crossing, a neighborhood with 99 homes off of Beckwith Road, south of the interstate was also approved.

The neighborhood was on the agenda last month, but received a negative recommendation based on several factors, which included one entrance for the neighborhood, the buffer between their neighborhoods, the extra traffic on Beckwith Road, among other things.

The developers listened to the concerns, and fixed many of the issues. They dropped the numbers of houses to 99. The city requires two entrances to a neighborhood over 100 houses. There will also be a turn lane into the neighborhood. They also agreed to some buffers between their neighborhood, including a fence shielding from a local pond, and a tree and shrub line between Beckwith Crossing and Del Webb Lake Providence.

“They’re doing everything that they are required to do,” said Commissioner Brian Abston. “I think this is a good development, and we need to let them go through.”

The neighborhood was approved unanimously.
