Stray bullets striking homes in Providence area PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, August 26, 2014

Stray bullets have struck several homes in the Mt. Juliet area, and the Mt. Juliet Police Department have pinned down a possible area where the shots are originating.

The first incident was on May 29 when a homeowner located a round in their living room couch. Three more incidents happened on Aug. 19, and when the Police Department alerted the community, three more residents said their homes had been struck.

The properties that were struck were in the 400 block of Battle Flag Lane, 600 block of Belinda Parkway, 500 block of Caliber Lane, 1400 block of Hilltop Drive, 100 block of Privateer Lane and the 200 block of Sutler Place.

The shots are believed to be coming from recreational shooting or hunting on a nearby property. While the homes that were struck are in the city limits, the suspected area where the bullets are coming from is in the county between the Beckwith Corridor and Del Webb-Lake Providence. Residents said they hear gun shots frequently from 5-8 p.m. All homes struck are within 2,500 feet of one another. Shooting or firing any projectile is prohibited by the Mt. Juliet City Code.

Anyone with any information regarding the stray bullet incidents are encouraged to call the Mt. Juliet Police Department at (615) 754-2550. Information can also be given anonymously by calling (615) 754-TIPS (8477) or via the Mt. Juliet Police Department website at http://www.mjpd.org.
