Wilson Central Swim Team had their first two meets of the year by participating in the 2012 MTSC High School Invitational and a county meet with Mt. Juliet, held at the Jimmy Floyd Family Center.

The MTSC meet was on Nov. 10. The competition was furious with teams from Lebanon, MJCA, Wilson Central, Hendersonville, Hillsboro, Martin Luther King, Beech, Aaron Academy, Portland, Merrol Hyde, Hume Fogg, Cookeville, Fayetteville, Gateway Christian, Franklin County, Lincoln County, Columbia Central and Culleoka Unit School.

Coach Alex Major said  “For a year of rebuilding we had awesome results. I was amazed at some of the times from new swimmers, and saw great improvement from returning swimmers. I see new leaders stepping up, and a team that has the potential to dominate in future years. We finished third overall in the meet out of 16 teams. This shows how talented we are, and how much future potential we have considering our team is very young. We now head in to a tough division schedule.”

The second meet was against Mt. Juliet held Nov. 16 also at the Floyd Center. The Bears, with their heavy senior squad, came out on top after a good effort from Wilson Central.

Wilson Central had the following swimmers qualify for the Regional meet in Nashville: Jake Bartow, 100 yard Freestyle, 200 yard Freestyle; Elizabeth Burkett 100 yard Breaststroke; Jasmine Gebhardt, 100 yard Butterfly, 100 yard Freestyle; Autumn Glass; 50 yard Freestyle, 200 yard Freestyle, 500 yard Freestyle; Caleb Groom, 50 yard Freestyle, 100 yard Breaststroke, 200 yard Individual Medley; Lindsey Kennedy, 100 yard Breaststroke; Hannah King, 100 yard Freestyle, 100 yard Backstroke, Hayden Leckenby, 50 yard Freestyle; Eli Rawls, 100 yard Butterfly, 200 yard Individual Medley; Miranda Royse, 100 yard Breaststroke, 200 yard Individual Medley, 100 yard Butterfly; Alex Yates, 100 yard Butterfly, 500 yard Freestyle.
