GREEN HILLS - Ronjanae DeGray had 34 points, but Mt. Juliet suffered their first loss of the season, 62-53, to Hillsboro. 

The Lady Burros had four players in double figures, and finished the game on an 11-2 run.

Hillsboro jumped out to 20-15 lead after one quarter, and held the lead at 34-29 at the break. 

Mt. Juliet cut it to 44-41 going into the fourth, and two free throws by DeGray tied the game in the fourth at 51-51. 

The Lady Burros controlled the last few minutes and came away with the victory. 

DeGray was the only Lady Bear in double figures. Tariana Carter led Hillsboro with 19. Nicole Bowers had 11, and Araya Flemings and Jamilah Leonard had 10 apiece. 

The loss drops Mt. Juliet to 4-1 on the season.

Hillsboro’s size caused some problems Friday for Mt. Juliet in a 66-46 loss. 

6’8” Jamonte Davis had a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Burros. 6’8” Antorian Moore also chipped in seven points and four rebounds for Hillsboro. 

Mt. Juliet kept it close early, only trailing 9-5 at the end of the first. The lead grew to double digits by the half at 28-18, and the game got put out of reach in the third, as it was 47-30 going into the final quarter. 

Daniel Schroder led the way for the Bears, getting some tough points against the big post players of Hillsboro. He finished with 17 points. Nolan Chowbay chipped in 13. 

The Bears and Lady Bears traveled to Riverdale Tuesday. The game was completed after press time. They will be at home Friday to take on rival Lebanon, with the girls’ game tipping off at 6:30 p.m.
