The Mt. Juliet Lady Bears and the Wilson Central Wildcats came up one win short of a return to the state tournament.

Saturday, the Lady Bears traveled to Brentwood and lost 64-50.

The Lady Bears played without Ronjanae DeGray, who suffered an injury in the region finals.

Mt. Juliet had the lead in the first half, but a 25-7 third quarter in favor of Brentwood would put the Lady Bruins in control.

Sally McCabe led the way for Mt. Juliet with 16 points. Savannah Sanders added 14. Tyia Waller had 13.

Mt. Juliet finished the season 24-10.

The Central boys also had to travel to Brentwood and came up short, 60-54.

Jacob Williams led the Wildcats with 17 points. Ben Palmer had 15 and Matthew Hall ended with 12 points.

The win earned Brentwood their first state tournament appearance.

Central ended the season 24-10.
