|Citizen helps catch teenage robber|

A 17-year-old male, who just robbed a gas station clerk at knifepoint, is in custody after citizen stops him from leaving.
On Wednesday, June 6th, 2012 at 8:20PM, a 17-year-old male entered the Citgo gas station in the heart of Mt. Juliet and robbed the 55-year-old clerk. The offender displayed a large steak knife, and told to clerk to hand over all the cash and key to his car. The clerk gave the offender some cash and the keys to a vehicle, but directed the juvenile to a different vehicle in an attempt to confuse him.
A 44-year-old male citizen was outside pumping gas and witnessed this event take place. As the offender was leaving and attempting to take the vehicle, the citizen yelled at the suspect to put his hands up on the car. The offender listened and complied. After noticing the large knife in the offender’s pocket, the citizen pulled it out and threw it to the ground. Mt. Juliet Police Officers arrived as the citizen was throwing the knife to the ground, and Officers were able to take the juvenile offender into custody without incident. All the cash and weapon was recovered. No one was injured during this incident.
Charges are currently pending on the 17-year-old male juvenile offender.
