One little girl from Guatemala got a surprise birthday party at Sparkling Tiaras in Mt. Juliet recently. The Shalom Foundation brought 14-year old Angelica Morales to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville to remove the vascular malformation dramatically affecting her ability to eat, breathe and be accepted at school in her local community.
The Shalom Foundation staff met Angelica last May at The Moore Pediatric Surgery Center during a Shalom ENT surgical mission trip. With support from Shalom, Angelica and her grandmother, Micaela, recently received their visas to travel to the U.S. The complex surgery will be led by pediatric ENT surgeon Dr. Steven Goudy. Children’s Hospital will sponsor all of Angelica’s medical care. She will spend her recovery time in Nashville with a local family.
Angelica was welcomed into Nashville with a special, belated “princess” themed birthday party. Her birthday was May 31, so volunteers preparing to go to Guatemala with The Shalom Foundation decided to surprise Angelica with a surprise birthday party at Sparkling Tiara! During an interview in Guatemala City at The Moore Surgery Center with Shalom patrom and Shalom foundation supporter, Jennifer Nettles, Angelica commented that she enjoyed reading and that one of her favorite subjects to read about was princesses, naturally.
