|Tuesday, August 14, 2012|
The 2012 Wilson County Fair theme entitled “Pulling Together at the Wilson County Fair” will be held Aug. 17-25.
In addition, the fair will also be celebrating the “Year of the Corn” by telling the story of corn first recognized in Middle Tennessee in 1778.As we celebrate this year’s fair we are all reminded of the importance of corn as our nation experiences extremely dry weather with a shortage of the corn crop due to the 2012 drought. The fair will remind each of us of the significance of corn because much of our food is dependent upon this agricultural product.
The fair will be doing a media series on “What Makes a County Fair” and this year’s theme “Pulling Together.” This theme tells the story of our entire county “pulling together” to showcase the talents of Wilson County. In the coming weeks, several press releases will suggest the reasons for the success of the Wilson County Fair. One of the main reasons our county fair has been successful is due to the amount of participation from the people of Wilson County. As a fair promotes the talents of the county it serves it requires people to enter the many competitive contests and exhibits that a fair offers. Wilson Countians demonstrate their ability to “pull together” each August when they turn out in great numbers to participate in their county fair.
