Kenny Howell Managing Editor A West Elementary student passed away from a brief illness Friday, according to Wilson County Schools. Sam McLeod, 9, passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, reportedly from a non-contagious form of bacterial meningitis. In a statement from the school system, Deputy Director Mickey Hall said they school system had been in contact for the Center for Disease Control and there is no health risk to any students. There is no need for students to take preventative medication if they had been in contact with the student. “Rest assured that all measures have been taken by the school system to maintain safety for all students,” the statement read. |
