University Medical Center welcomes new CEO Caldwell

University Medical Center (UMC) officials are pleased to introduce Matthew T. Caldwell as the new Chief Executive Officer.

Caldwell most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer of Dallas Regional Medical Center, a sister Health Management Associates hospital in Dallas, TX.  He was instrumental in providing leadership with a focus on development of strategic service lines and physician practices.  He has also been successful in implementing quality initiatives at Dallas Regional, who was ranked number 1 in patient safety in the competitive Dallas County healthcare market.  Now entering his 18th year in healthcare service, he has also served as Chief Operating Officer with Sierra Medical Center, El Paso, TX, Valley Regional Medical Center, Brownsville, TX, and Vice President of Patient Care Services with Baylor Medical Center, Waxahachie, TX.  Caldwell brings to UMC the insight of a veteran healthcare executive as well as the skill of a strategic business leader.

Caldwell earned his Master of Health Care Administration degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Bethel College, North Newton, KS.
