Horticulture Q&A at Garr’s Saturday
Tuesday, March 12, 2013

On Saturday, March 16, Garr’s Rental and Feed in Mt. Juliet will host a question and answer session with Wilson County Extension Agent Justin Stefanski.  Homeowners are invited to bring their horticultural questions, from how to prune roses to how to eliminate weeds in the garden.

The free “hands-on, how-to” sessions will begin with a pruning seminar at 10 a.m., followed by a weed identification and control seminar at 11 a.m.

Both sessions will include a slide show and question-and-answer throughout.

Those attending the weed identification and control seminar are invited to bring a fresh sample of problem vegetation, roots and all, for identification.

Seating for the seminar is limited; please R.S.V.P. to Garr’s at 754-2777.

“This is an opportunity for customers to have their questions answered by an expert,” explained Roy Garr, president and owner of Garr’s Rental and Feed.  “Whether you want to learn the best time and method for pruning shrubbery, a fungus growing on your rosebushes, or a weed growing in the lawn, Justin can assist you.”  Garr added that customers are encouraged to bring plant samples to the session.

Stefanski is the horticultural specialist at the UT & TSU Wilson County Extension office.

His focus is on home gardens, trees and shrubs, and diseases and insects affecting plant life.

“I invite homeowners to come out to Garr’s ready to ask questions and show samples.  I look forward to answering questions and helping homeowners achieve horticultural success this summer.”

The UT & TSU Wilson County Extension office and staff offers programs in agriculture, family and consumer sciences, 4-H youth development, and community resource development.

The office is located at 925 E. Baddour Pkwy in Lebanon.
