Flag Day Event set for June 14-16

June 14-16, downtown Mt. Juliet is going to show its patriotism.
Flags of Honor, a tribute to the men and women who are now serving or have served in the military branches, will be on display on the corner of East Division Street and North Mt. Juliet Road.  An opening ceremony will be Friday, June 14 at 11 a.m. and a closing ceremony will be held Sunday, June 16 at 2 p.m.

The corner will be filled with flags sponsored by people in the community, and the proceeds will go to The Exchange Club of West Wilson County, American Legion Tyler Cates Post 281, and Vietnam Veterans Chapter 1004 to provide services and support to serving military members, veterans, their families and other identified needs within Wilson County. Flag sponsors will have the option of honoring a specific former or present member of the military or a POW/MIA. Flags with such an honoree will bear an identifying label.
Individual sponsors are $30 for a flag kit, or $35 to have the flag only mailed. There are multiple other sponsorship offers for major corporations, small businesses and civic groups.  They are as follows:
Regimental Level - $2,500 (50 flag kits)
Battalion Level - $1,000 (25 flag kits)
Company Level - $500 [10 flag kits]
Platoon Level - $300 [5 flag kits]
Squad Level - $150 (2 flag kits)
All donations to this event are partially tax deductible. Each of the sponsorship levels (except individual sponsors) includes varying levels of sponsor recognition on site and/or in the program. The top four levels include various forms of media recognition. In-kind sponsor options for items such as photography, portable lighting system, portable toilets, volunteer T-shirts, printing, tables and chairs, events tents are available. Sponsors will be able to order flags through the event website, www.healingfield.org/mtjuliet13, by using the order form in the brochure that will be distributed and/or at the event site June 14-16. Sponsors may pick up their flags with the flag pole after the closing ceremony June 16 or 17 at to be designated site. Those that pay an extra fee of $5 per flag at the time of purchase will have their flag only mailed to them.
Each flag kit includes specially engineered durable white flag pole, gold vinyl ball for top of pole, 3’x5’ all weather U.S. Flag and miscellaneous ties and washers needed for pole assembly.
On the website, flag sponsors will be able to get details of our event as well as place their orders using a secure payment option. Visitors to the website will be able to download and print our brochure, including the order form and then mail in their order. An email address on the website allows visitors to contact the event committee directly.
