A Mt. Juliet 14-year-old has caught the eyes of big modeling agencies after winning several awards at a prestigious competition.
Holly Stevens was the overall winner in the TV Commercial Category and the Photography division, first runner up in Runway Modeling and top honor in Legs at the Modeling Association of America International in Miami, Fla. June 20-24.
Because of the wins, Stevens received a $2,500 scholarship to the New York Film Academy.
Stevens had only been modeling a month at the Jo-Susan School of Modeling and Talent. Director of the School Susan Carpenter urged Stevens that she should go to the competition despite only a month of training. She said she had a “star quality.”
She pretty much talked us into going,” said Stevens mother Cathey Stevens. “Holly did amazing.”
“I was nervous and excited,” said Holly of knowing she would be attending the competition.
The competition had females ranging from 7 to 50 years old, but most of the girls were aged 13-17. There were 12 international agencies in attendance, most of them from Canada, and Holly got seven call backs from the 12. Holly said the agencies she spoke to do a lot of work in European cities like Milan, Italy, as well as in China.
Holly said that the experience was great, but she isn’t going to rush into anything, though she would like to go a lot farther in modeling and acting. She will be a home school student through Heritage Christian Academy starting this fall. She previously attended Donelson Christian Academy.
If modeling and acting doesn’t work out for her, she would like to pursue a career in Pathology or Veterinary Medicine.
