MJFD doing “Fill the Boot” for Muscular Dystrophy Association in October
Tuesday, October 15, 2013

Firefighters from the Mt. Juliet Fire Department are teaming up with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) at five events in October to “Fill the Boot.”

On Oct. 15, firefighters will be at Kids Night at Chick-Fil-A; on Oct. 16, they will be at the Del Webb Active Adult Community at Lake Providence; on Oct. 18, they will be at Coffee with the Cops at Chick-Fil-A; on Oct. 28, you can find them at the Mt. Juliet Fire Department for Open House; and on Oct. 31, they will be out for Halloween.

Come out and see the firefighters on these dates as they collect money in support of MDA. These “Boot Drives” offer the community a chance to donate money that will be used in the battle against neuromuscular diseases.

The proceeds collected from the Boot Drive will aid local children and adults with neuromuscular diseases by providing wheelchairs, leg braces, clinic visits, support groups, and a week long summer camp  for local children ages 6-17 to attend.

For over 59 years, firefighters and MDA have partnered to fight neuromuscular diseases.

As if it doesn’t suffice to jump into burning buildings, respond to emergencies in hazardous, life-threatening situations, and place it all on the line every day, some firefighters find the time to even go beyond that calling.  One such department is the Mt. Juliet Fire Department.

Please save your spare change and help “Fill the Boot” to make a difference.

MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat more than 40 forms of muscular dystrophy and related diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services and far-reaching professional and public health education. MDA’s programs are funded almost entirely by individual private contributors.
