Black Friday shopping in Providence Marketplace went off with only minor problems.

“Overall, this was a very smooth opening for the holiday shopping season and really incident free,” said Mt. Juliet Police Department’s Sergeant Tyler Chandler.

According to Chandler, there were four minor, non-injury accidents and one medical call when a female passed out at Best Buy. She refused medical treatment.

Chandler said lines started forming 6:30 p.m. Thanksgiving day, and the shopping center stayed packed until around 2 a.m. Friday morning.

Things picked back up Friday at 8 a.m., which caused some traffic problems. Traffic was backed up to Old Lebanon Dirt Road. Chandler said he determined that the lights were set for a regular week day, so they assigned an officer to manually operate the lights to make it go more smoothly.
