Weathers running for County Commission seat
Tuesday, July 8, 2014

Diane Weathers is seeking the office of county commissioner for the 16th district of Wilson County in the upcoming election on August 7th.  She has been a life long resident of the 16th district and has watched its growth become a concern of the community.  “I love the quality of life we enjoy in the 16th District and want to make sure we are fully informed on things that may impact our way of life before they actually happen.  I have both the time and desire to represent the residents in this district and will always make myself available to help them with their concerns and issues” says Mrs. Weathers.

Diane has been actively involved in helping make the 16th District and Wilson County a better place to be through her work with the Wilson County Library Board and the Wilson County Board of Zoning Appeals.  She has served on the library board for over 15 years and is passionate about providing a place where both children and adults can expand their skills and knowledge for whatever their interests may be.  Diane has served on the board of zoning appeals to protect the best interests of all Wilson Countians through enforcing the codes that govern both residential and commercial buildings that may be out of compliance.  “Our building codes are in place to protect all residents and this board is responsible for making decisions on matters when the codes are violated, which helps protect the value of the surrounding property”, Mrs. Weathers said.

Diane has been married to Don Weathers for over 32 years and they have one son, Darren whom is married to Allison Thomas of Mt. Juliet.  They live on a working Century Farm just south of Providence.  “Very few residents of the 16th District have been impacted by the recent growth more than I have and I want to make sure any future development in this area is done in a responsible way and takes the residents into consideration”, adds Mrs. Weathers.
